Suns Go Down in Flames, Timberwolves Advance to Second Round

Edwards, Towns Lead Wolves to Victory

Finch Calls for Better Starts in Game 4

The Minnesota Timberwolves pulled away late to beat the Phoenix Suns 122-116 on Monday in Game 3 of their Western Conference first-round playoff series. Anthony Edwards scored 40 points, Karl-Anthony Towns added 28, and the Timberwolves took a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven series.

The Suns were led by Devin Booker's 35 points, but they were unable to overcome a slow start and a poor shooting night from three-point range. The Timberwolves hit 12 three-pointers to the Suns' seven, and they also outrebounded the Suns 45-36.

"We didn't play well enough tonight," Suns coach Monty Williams said. "We didn't make shots, we didn't rebound well, and we didn't defend well. We have to be better in Game 4."

The Timberwolves have now won two straight games after dropping the series opener at home. They will host the Suns in Game 4 on Wednesday night.

"We're not satisfied yet," Edwards said. "We want to win this series and move on to the next round. We have to keep playing hard and stay focused."

The Timberwolves are now one win away from advancing to the second round of the playoffs for the first time since 2018. The Suns, on the other hand, will need to win the next two games to stay alive in the series.
