**South Padre Island, Texas** - At least four people were injured in shark attacks on South Padre Island on Thursday, July 4, 2024. The attacks, described as extremely rare, occurred as swimmers enjoyed the holiday weekend in the Gulf of Mexico. According to local authorities, three victims were hospitalized, with one man in serious condition. The man, who was reportedly attacked by a single shark, suffered severe lacerations to his leg and is undergoing surgery. The other victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were treated at a local hospital. First responders from the South Padre Island police and fire departments responded to the scene and assisted the victims.
